On Saturday we tried out a cafe that I have been wanting to go to for ages,  Sweet Bakery & Cakery, which is in a town near to us. It was super cute! Plus they had gluten free cupcakes so I was sold. We then drove around the area for a little bit just to see … Continue reading A cupcake and a nature reserve

June 6, 2017August 16, 2018 ~ Tessa ~ Leave a comment

Over the last couple of months I have been helping organise a youth group weekend at our church for this weekend just been. We had bible studies on the 'isms' (humanism, feminism, cultism, etc.) - looking at the bible's perspective on these issues. It was such a good weekend. We also unintentionally ended up with a … Continue reading Youth group weekend

May 30, 2017August 16, 2018 ~ Tessa ~ Leave a comment

Never did I ever think I would put this much effort into a dog's birthday party! Only for Jess. Jess is Sam's family's dog and we decided to host the party at our house. Our house is only really made for two people but somehow we managed to get 12 adults and a dog in … Continue reading Jess turns 7!

Our 26th birthday photo and some shots from our road trip around Northland 😊
A big lesson I’ve been learning this year, particularly in the last few months, is to trust in God at ALL times, not just when it’s easy to. When things are bad, when you’ve been called to wait a long time for something, when your prayers haven’t been answered - you can trust that in every situation, God has it under control. ⁣ ⁣ Trust in him at ALL times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. ~ Psalm 62:8
I finally got around to writing part two of ‘Waiting with patience’ on my blog! The link is in my bio if you want to have a read, otherwise here is a little snippet: ⁣ ⁣ We need to remember that God’s timeline is different to ours. God sees beyond this current life and we should try and do that too. While it may seem like we have been waiting a really long time for something, it doesn’t take long for things to change. God can make things happen in an instant. Like my Dad said to me once, “You never know what’s just around the corner”, and from 1 Corinthians 15:52 we know that when Christ returns, it’s only going to take the “twinkling of an eye” for everything to change.
If you have ever been deeply hurt by a person/people in your church, please remember these things:⁣ ⁣ It’s not a church thing, it’s a people thing. While we are still sinners, as much as we might try our best, there’s always going to be people hurting/offending each other no matter where you are. Work colleagues may hurt you, classmates may hurt you, family members may hurt you. That being said, there’s no excuse for being unkind to other people no matter how deeply you may have been hurt yourself. The church should be a safe place and a sanctuary. Jesus’ disciples are those who love one another (John 13:35).⁣ ⁣ If you have been hurt, don’t let it get in the way of your relationship with God and a future in His kingdom. Surround yourself with the people who love you and encourage you in His ways. ⁣ ⁣ x
If you’re really great at having a good old whinge like I am (whether you like to admit it or not), I recommend listening to this: https://bit.ly/2RG1PSb⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve listened to it about four times now and find it so good for keeping myself in check.
Spiritual lessons from gardening last night: ⁣ ⁣ * The more often you weed, the easier gardening is. Read the bible a little bit every day and you will get so much more benefit than just opening your bible every now and again. ⁣ ⁣ * The more you get into the garden, the more weeds you’ll notice. The more you have your head in the bible, the more you’ll become aware of sin in your life.⁣ ⁣ * Pull the weeds out by the root otherwise they will just keep growing back. Cut sin off at the roots (Matt 5:29-30).⁣ ⁣ Can you think of any? Share in the comments if you can!
